Job Title: Public Health Consultant – Older People, Mental Health & Learning Disabilities

Opus People Solutions is working with Cambridgeshire County Council to recruit an interim Public Health Consultant. The role involves line managing the Senior Partnership Manager for Falls Prevention and the Suicide Prevention Lead Officer.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide strategic leadership to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for older people, individuals with learning disabilities, and enhance public mental health and prevention of mental ill health.
This senior role in the local health and wellbeing community involves working within a Public Health team to deliver relevant outcome indicators from public health, NHS, and social care frameworks. The consultant must meet the Professional Development (CPD) requirements of FPH or other recognized bodies.
Requirements include being registered with the GMC, GDC, or the UK Public Health (Specialist) Register, or other relevant specialist registers with a license to practice. The post-holder will collaborate with the Director of Public Health and other consultants to lead initiatives aimed at improving residents’ health and wellbeing, in accordance with statutory duties of local government.
The role requires cross-organizational influence, budget management, and advocacy for change to enhance population and planetary health. Responsibilities may include direct managerial duties, strategic planning across the council and partner agencies, and leading public health input into adult social care and related commissioning activities, including research, innovative models, and evaluation.
