UK Biobank, one of the world’s most valuable health research resources, is seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Director of Engagement to lead the development and delivery of its engagement strategy, ensuring seamless researcher access and strong participant involvement. This new role is central to enhancing UK Biobank’s ability to provide world-class data for scientific breakthroughs that improve human health globally.
In this leadership position, the Director of Engagement will drive strategies to engage researchers, grow usage of UK Biobank’s data, and ensure efficient and responsible access. They will also develop and oversee participant engagement initiatives, ensuring that the 500,000 volunteers who make this resource possible remain informed, valued, and motivated. By fostering strong relationships with both the research community and participants, the Director will play a key role in shaping UK Biobank’s future impact on global health research.
Success in this role will require a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and strong leadership. The Director will drive improvements to researcher enablement, ensuring that scientists can access and use UK Biobank data efficiently, while also leading efforts to expand and diversify research engagement globally. At the same time, they will enhance the experience of UK Biobank participants by developing targeted outreach strategies, maintaining high levels of engagement, and ensuring their ongoing contributions to health research are recognised and valued.
