Category Manager – Waste Management (12-Month FTC)

Location: Kent, Wakefield or London

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum

Contract: Fixed Term (12 Months)

Industry: Heavy Manufacturing / Multi-Site Operations

Elevation Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a leading organisation in the heavy manufacturing sector to recruit a skilled Category Manager to join their procurement team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing and optimising waste management and environmental services across multiple sites, ensuring commercial effectiveness and sustainability targets are met.

The Role:

As Category Manager, you will take ownership of the waste management category, driving supplier performance and delivering cost-effective solutions that align with business and environmental goals. You will:

  • Lead procurement strategy and category planning across waste and recycling services
  • Develop strong supplier relationships and negotiate contracts to maximise value
  • Collaborate with site managers and stakeholders across the UK to standardise practices
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and company policies
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and explore innovative waste solutions

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We’re looking for a confident, commercially-minded procurement professional who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

  • Proven experience as a Category Manager or in a similar strategic procurement role
  • Background in heavy manufacturing or industrial sectors preferred
  • Comfortable working across multi-site operations
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Knowledge of waste management regulations and sustainability practices is a plus
