Elderly Accommodation Counsel(EAC) believe that good and trustworthy information about the options open to people is key to successfully planning ahead.
EAC is entering a pivotal moment in its remarkable 40-year journey. It is are seeking an inspirational and strategic Chief Executive Officer to lead them into a new era—building on its legacy as the UK’s leading independent source of information and advice on housing for older people, and responding to renewed national interest in Its mission.
EAC was founded in 1985 by individuals passionate about empowering older people to make informed choices about their housing and care. Over four decades, the charity built a trusted voice, created invaluable national housing datasets, pioneered FirstStop Advice with government support, and reached millions through its HousingCare.org platform. HousingCare.org, is a testament to their commitment, attracting approximately 14,000 visits on weekdays and 9,000 on weekends, with the retirement housing directory receiving around 5 million unique page views annually
Despite the end of government funding in 2016, EAC has sustained itself with entrepreneurial spirit, stable income streams, and deep goodwill from across the housing and care sectors.
Now, with backing from key stakeholders and a committed Board of Trustees, they are investing in leadership renewal. EAC are recruiting a new CEO to work alongside their outgoing leadership team during a transition period, with the support of a proposed Stakeholder Group of leading retirement housing providers.

The opportunity
As CEO, you will shape and deliver a compelling vision for the next phase of EAC’s development. You’ll lead the organisation operationally, inspire partnerships across sectors, and champion the re-building of a trustworthy national information and advice ecosystem to support older people and their families.
One of the key parts to this role is overseeing the expansion of their housing data platform and web services, while exploring new income opportunities that ensure their sustainability and reduce dependence on advertising.
This is an exciting leadership role with a dual focus: delivering continuity of EAC’s core work while growing its reach, partnerships, and impact at a national level.
About you
EAC are looking for an exceptional individual with:
- Proven strategic leadership experience ideally in the not-for-profit, housing, care, property, elderly accommodation or public sectors
- Passion for improving outcomes for older people and a commitment to EAC’s values of independence and integrity
- Commercial acumen and the ability to grow sustainable income streams
- A desire to talk and present at national conferences to increase awareness of the EAC and drum up additional investment opportunities
- Experience in managing small, agile teams and commissioning specialist work
- Outstanding communication and partnership-building skills
You may currently be working at CEO, Director, or senior strategic programme level—ready to bring energy, imagination and influence to a respected charity with a vital national role.
