About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Energy & Carbon Consultant to join a expanding sustainability-focused consultancy. As part of a dynamic and highly skilled team, you’ll play a key role in delivering impactful low-carbon solutions, supporting the full cycle from early client engagement through to execution and delivery — no requirement to win work, just focus on delivering exceptional outcomes.

You’ll be joining an established & growing team of 4 energy assessors which are responsible for completing energy assessments across the UK for a variety of buldings (e.g., distribution centres, retail outlets, multiuse developments, residential estates, commercial offices etc).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver complex energy assessments across a wide range of sectors.
  • Produce Commercial Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) at a professional level.
  • Conduct advanced building modelling using IES-VE or DesignBuilder for Net Zero Carbon reporting.
  • Deliver residential carbon modelling and SAP calculations.
  • Lead or contribute to BREEAM and BREEAM AP proposals and tenders.
  • Conduct embodied and operational carbon LCA using OneClickLCA.
  • Prepare sustainability and energy strategy reports for planning and compliance.
  • Deliver feasibility studies for renewable installations (e.g., solar, LED, fabric).
  • Act as a key advisor to internal PMs, QSs, and Surveyors on sustainability aspects of construction and retrofit projects.
  • Shadow the Head of Energy & Carbon in client meetings and learn how to shape and scope deliverables into invoices.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development.

Ideally you’ll have

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a similar consultancy or technical role.
  • Level 5 EPC Assessor certification (essential).
  • Proven experience with IES-VE or DesignBuilder.
  • Working knowledge of OneClickLCA or other LCA tools.
  • Understanding of BREEAM frameworks and requirements.
  • Strong client-facing ability and communication skills.
  • Organised, commercially aware and able to manage multiple projects.
  • A passion for sustainability and a drive to innovate.

Why Join?

  • Work for a fast-growing business with £30m+ revenue and a strong reputation in sustainable design.
  • No business development pressure – focus on delivery and leadership.
  • Accelerators Bonus Scheme – earn 25% of invoiced work above 3x your salary (paid at Christmas).
  • Work with clients like Siemens, NEXT, CBRE, and Knight Frank.
  • Cross-disciplinary exposure to solar PV, LED, and building fabric retrofits.
  • Join a supportive, forward-thinking culture where innovation is encouraged.
