SEND Secondary Teacher – (Trauma-Informed Practice)

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and committed professional to join our fantastic client in Stockport. Excell Supply are actively recruiting for a SEND Secondary Teacher, working with secondary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), many of whom have experienced trauma.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for students aged 11–16 with a range of SEND needs, including SEMH, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Work closely with small groups and individual learners to build trust, confidence, and motivation through a trauma-informed approach.
  • Prepare teaching materials, write progress reports, and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support students to develop emotional resilience, social skills, and academic progress in a nurturing environment.
  • Create a safe, predictable, and inclusive classroom where behaviour is managed with empathy, consistency, and understanding.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver a holistic and accessible curriculum.
  • Deliver accredited courses including GCSE, BTEC and Entry Level qualifications.

We Would Love to Hear From People Who:

  • Are passionate advocates for young people with SEND and committed to trauma-informed practice.
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience working in a SEND or SEMH secondary environment.
  • Understand the impact of early adversity and trauma on learning and behaviour, and can respond with sensitivity and skill.
  • Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team including therapists, pastoral staff, and parents/carers.
