Interim Operations Director

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Director for a 9-month period starting in May 2025. You will have a proven track record in the waste sector, demonstrating strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of the industry’s legal regulations and guidelines.

This role reports directly to the Managing Director and you will also be a member of the Executive Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily waste, recycling and cleaning operations and ensure efficient workflow
  • Implement strategic initiatives to improve operational performance
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and guidelines
  • Lead and mentor the operations team in the delivery of the business plan
  • Line management responsibility for two Deputy Operations Directors

Essential Requirements for the Role:

  • Waste Industry experience at a senior level within a large multi-disciplinary environment, Teckal or Local Authority organisation, or equivalent experience
  • Strong ability to build and nurture effective partnerships, manage stakeholder relationships, and influence others to achieve business objectives
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic approaches across multiple teams and functions to deliver high performing services

Work hours are 37.5 hours per week Mon-Fri. The role will require the postholder to be based on site a minimum of 4 days a week.
