Energy Strategy & Communications Lead

Company: Squeaky Clean Energy
Apply for the Energy Strategy & Communications Lead
Location: Greater London
Job Description:

This is a rare opportunity to shape the voice of a next-generation energy supplier.

If you’re a sharp thinker with sector knowledge — in policy, trading, strategy or sustainability — and you’re hungry to make more impact, this could be your next big step.

Squeaky is building a better kind of energy supplier for industrial and commercial customers — one that’s smarter, more responsive, and genuinely aligned with customer needs. That means clean energy and credible net zero options, but also intelligent trading, transparent billing, and service that actually works.

We’re looking for someone who can combine insight with communications flair, and who understands the diverse priorities of our customers — from sustainability leads to energy buyers to CFOs.

This is a hybrid role: part communicator, part analyst, part industry insider.

What you’ll do:

  • Use your energy strategy knowledge to shape relevant, B2B communications that resonate with industrial and commercial customers
  • Bring policy analysis, stakeholder engagement and trading insights into our content and messaging
  • Build strong, genuine relationships across the energy ecosystem — becoming a trusted voice among a community that’s often invisible: energy buyers
  • Work a room with confidence and empathy — at conferences, roundtables, and networking events — and use those connections to inform and amplify our message
  • Share ideas, insights and provocations with the right people in the industry — energy buyers, finance teams, sustainability leads, CFOs
  • Build a visible presence on LinkedIn, at events, and in industry forums
  • Attend trade shows and webinars and share what matters — quickly, clearly, credibly
  • Commission and co-create research and insight reports that actually get read
  • Speak up: on panels, in roundtables, or in front of a camera (we’ll support you to become confident and compelling on video as well as in person)
  • Help Squeaky punch above our weight with a sharper voice and smarter content

What you might be doing now:

  • Working in corporate sustainability, clean tech, or environmental policy with a growing interest in strategic communications
  • Collaborating with information services teams, consultants, or internal stakeholders to communicate complex energy and carbon market concepts
  • Analyst, comms, or strategy at a supplier, consultancy, or large corporate
  • Policy or external affairs in the clean energy space
  • Early-career trader or carbon market specialist with strong communication instincts
  • Just finished a rotational grad scheme and ready to focus on something with impact
  • Writing LinkedIn posts or running internal briefings — but want to do more of it, better, with real reach
  • Or you might have a completely different background — what matters most is your energy IQ, communication instincts, and the ability to build trust quickly

Why this role matters:

Squeaky works with some of the UK’s biggest energy users. When one of them switches to guaranteed clean energy, the carbon impact is huge — equivalent to hundreds of thousands of households.

But they don’t find us through search. They find us through reputation, relationships, and relevance.

This role is about making sure we show up in the right conversations — as a smart, honest, and influential voice.

How to apply

We’re not looking for polish. We’re looking for potential — and a strong foundation in climate, clean energy, or business strategy.

Instead of a CV and cover letter, please send us:

  • A short note on why this role excites you
  • A link to something you’ve written or shared — LinkedIn post, article, deck, video, internal briefing — anything that gives us a sense of how you think and communicate

Send it to recruitment@squeaky.energy. We’ll review as we go.
