Job Description:

Temporary Laboratory Technician required, based in Greater Manchester. Requiring recent experience of wet chemistry analysis and a recent degree in Chemistry. This role will suit recent Chemistry graduates, particularly those with a year in industry.

Salary: £25,000-£28,000 per annum (dependent on experience, pro-rata)

Term: Ongoing temporary work

SRG are currently working with a leading manufacturer of speciality materials across a range of different industries. With a global presence and a portfolio of growing products, they are now looking to hire a Laboratory Technician to join their laboratory team in Greater Manchester on a temporary basis. This role will primarily involve testing samples and recording test results whilst ensuring laboratory equipment is kept in a serviceable, calibrated and presentable condition. Techniques used include HPLC and wet chemistry analysis, and recent Chemistry graduates are encouraged to apply, with year in industry placements desirable.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:30am-4:30pm (with flexibility)

Role/Description

  • Carry out all routine quality control tests on part-finished and finished product and on incoming raw materials and ensure data is recorded according to the quality system.
  • Ensure test equipment is maintained in a serviceable, calibrated and presentable condition and that test procedures are up to date.
  • Issue Test Certificates to customers upon request
  • Ordering of laboratory consumables in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards
  • Record and maintain the database of test results.
  • Report adverse trends in quality.
  • Resolve day-to-day issues involving the routine testing service.
  • Assist in any further departmental investigations as required.

Requirements

  • A recent degree in Chemistry
  • Recent wet chemistry analysis, with recent HPLC experience desirable
  • Proven industrial experience of working in a laboratory setting (ideally within QC) is desirable
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously
