Interim Finance Director

We are seeking an Interim Finance Director for a 6-month position with a university based in London.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and direction for the institution.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the institution’s goals and objectives.
  • Advise senior management and the board on financial planning, budgeting, and policy matters.

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with educational accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide insights to support decision-making.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads.
  • Develop financial forecasts and long-term financial plans.
  • Monitor budget performance and implement corrective actions as needed.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the institution’s assets.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.

Grant and Fund Management:

  • Oversee the financial management of grants and funding from various sources.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting standards.
  • Prepare financial reports for grantors and funding agencies.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and communication within the finance team and across departments.

Financial Systems and Processes:

  • Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial systems and processes.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of financial software and tools.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial data entry and reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the institution in financial matters with external partners, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
