Team Overview

The Corporate Finance team is made up of an energetic and supportive group of individuals who are driven by building relationships with clients, not purely completing transactions. The team focuses on creating trusted and enjoyable working relationships with both clients and contacts. Established by Matt Katz in 2015, Buzzacott’s Corporate Finance Team has now grown to be a team of 20, making it one of the fastest growing teams in Buzzacott.

The transaction services team works with corporate, private equity, and banking clients on their acquisitions, investments, and financing. This position is ideally suited for someone with some transaction services (‘TS’) experience who wants to accelerate their career by developing themselves whilst assisting with growing the team.

You will be a part of a lead advisory oriented team with a focus on transactions in the £5m to £100m space as well as a valuations team. The team is encouraged to leverage each other’s specialisms and learn and grow together.

Role Overview

To be responsible for supporting the team with the delivery of buy-side advisory, financial due diligence services, and data reporting services to a wide range of clients. A key aspect of the role will be report writing and communicating key findings with our clients. Given the role will additionally focus on data, it will therefore be highly beneficial to have an interest and experience in data solutions, such as PowerQuery, PowerBI, and/or Alteryx.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Partner, Directors, and Managers of the team with the delivery of buy-side advisory services and the preparation of financial due diligence reports.
  • Plan and carry out Transaction Services assignments to the degree agreed with the respective Manager/Partner and keep them informed of the progress on the team’s jobs.
  • Effectively manage your time and costs, to keep within budget and to report to the Manager or Partner as soon as it appears that the agreed time budget will be compromised.
  • Understand the specification and commerciality of the assignment agreed with the client and report immediately to the Manager/Partner if this specification may need to be changed or any potential additional services/fees are identified.
  • Discuss findings and issues with the client, as well as providing solutions.
  • Be able and willing to network and build relationships. Start driving leads to the team, and to cross-sell Corporate Finance services to other Managers/Partners in the firm.
  • Preparation and delivery of financial due diligence reports.
  • Preparing insightful financial and commercial analysis and clearly communicating issues.
  • Preparation of Data packs and Data dashboards using Power Query.
  • With the support of the team, learn to advise clients on their acquisitions and investments, including SPA reviews, completion mechanisms, and price adjustments.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the input from specialist teams across the firm.
  • Assist with pitching and the preparation of proposals, including scope and fee.
  • Organise and run every assignment in accordance with the firm’s and the profession’s professional and ethical standards and ensure effective completion before Manager or Partner review.

Skills and Experience

  • Degree educated (or equivalent)
  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of Transactions Services in an Accounting Firm or Corporate Finance Boutique
  • Working knowledge of data software, possibly including PowerBI, PowerQuery, and/or Alteryx
  • Performed financial due diligence assignments
  • Experience working with Excel models
  • Ability to contribute to client meetings and proactively look for opportunities to advise clients
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with data software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Networking and results oriented; ability to recognise cross-selling opportunities
  • Able to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
  • Enthusiastic; reliable; discreet; composed; multi-tasker; determined; proactive; approachable; able to develop sound professional relationships
  • Displays ethical judgement
