Technical Designer

My client, a leading D&B Office fit out firm, is looking for a Technical Designer to join their team. They are a well-established firm that has been operating in the commercial workplace sector for a number of years, with an amazing office based in London and excellent travel routes. They have secured a brilliant pipeline of work with projects valued up to £8 million.

They have a strong ethic to promote from within with a view to make you a senior member of their design team.

Responsibilities:

1. Creating technical drawing packages for projects using AutoCAD or Revit.
2. Carrying out building surveys.
3. Attending site meetings over the course of project delivery.
4. Communicating with clients & sub-contractors.
5. Printing drawing packs for use on site & client meetings.
6. Ensuring the drawing issue sheet is up to date with the correct revisions.
7. Issuing drawings to sub-contractors and clients.
8. Working closely with the internal Design, Projects & Finance Teams.
9. Liaising with Building Control when required.
10. Ensuring in-house printing equipment for CAD or Revit drawings is readily available and fully functional at all times.

Required Skills and Experience:

1. 3-4 years’ experience using Revit or AutoCAD.
2. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
3. Experience within the area of Traditional tender & build projects.
4. Demonstrative experience with construction drawings, detailed drawings, and schedules.
5. Liaison with contractors (Mechanical, Electrical & Joinery).
6. A good knowledge of current Building Regulations.
7. Process-oriented & self-disciplined individual.
8. A proven track record of understanding design proposals and creating technical drawing packages to support these designs.
9. Effectively carrying out building surveys and preparing technical documentation with guidance from Building Control.
10. Confidence in attending site meetings independently and communicating effectively with clients and sub-contractors.
11. Experience of measured building surveying.
12. Experience within commercial workplace design.

IT Skills:

1. AutoCAD or Revit.
2. Microsoft Office 365.
3. Sketchup.
4. Knowledge of Procore, online-based Construction Management software.
